San Diego Unified School District
Beginning Teacher Support & Assessment
"To support and inspire new teachers in the development of exemplary and reflective classroom practice as they transition from a preliminary credential to a professional credential."
San Diego Unified School District's Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Induction Program is a two year, job embedded program designed to ensure professional success. Participating teachers receive on-site support from a trained peer coach/support provider.
The program uses the Formative Assessment for California Teachers (Fact), which is designed to build upon previous knowledge, experiences and skills to expand and enhance classroom practice. Together, participating teachers and support providers plan, deliver and reflect on standards-based lessons delivered in their classrooms. Additional support comes in the form of coursework and professional development learning academies.
