The district engages in K-12 teacher preparation in conjunction with teacher preparation programs at 15 local institutions of higher education. Student teachers (university students) are placed in district schools with carefully selected supervising (district) teachers who ensure they are provided supportive educational environments as they learn the art of teaching. Supervising teachers are recommended by their principals and participate in professional development and training in coaching adult learners prior to hosting student teachers.
